Youth Awards

CENTRAL COAST CACTUS AND SUCCULENT SOCIETY YOUTH GROWER AWARD

CCCSS is proud to announce a new category at our Annual Show & Sale event at Nipomo High School. This event will be held on May 27th and 28th 2023. The event is free to the public. There will be two divisions for Youth Growers. The first one is for youth up to 10 years of age. The second division will be for youth 11-18 or still enrolled in high school.

Basic Rules:

  1. You must own and be caring for your plant (a succulent or cactus) by March 1, 2023, which is 3 months prior to the May Show.
  2. Special pots are not required, but most plants in the adult divisions are planted in nice, clean, plastic, ceramic or clay pots.
  3. Plants must be disease and pest free.
  4. Plants should not be watered at least one week before the show as they will bedisplayed on cloth tablecloths.
  5. Entry cards will be provided during the setup of the Show on Friday May 26th from 4-7pm. If you do not know the name of your plant, there will be members available tohelp you with that.
  6. All plants will be judged by our panel of expert judges and the winning plants will be onthe award stage when the Show & Sale opens on Saturday, May 27th at 10 am.
  7. There will be at least 10 vendors selling rare and unusual succulent plants in the Salesarea. TheYouthwinnerineachdivisionwillbegivena$25giftcertificatetoredeem in the Sales area. They will also be given a $25 cash prize.*

CCCSS meets at the Odd Fellows Hall in San Luis Obispo on the second Sunday of each month at 2pm. We generally have a speaker, plants for sale and a plant exchange table.
